ConnectSense Expands To Android With New Smart Outlet

Today, ConnectSense announced its latest smart plug, the Smart Outlet, which is going to be able to control all of your devices that are plugged in. On top of that it will also work with all three major voice assistants: Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant, allowing you to control it with your voice, as well as through the app. The ConnectSense Smart Outlet is now available nationwide for $59. That does put it a bit higher than some of the other smart plugs out there, but this one is a bit different. Instead of replacing just one outlet on your wall, it will replace both. So the entire electrical outlet will now be "smart". That is also why this Smart Outlet is about the price of two smart plugs from companies like TP-Link, Wemo and others. These two outlets are controlled separately, allowing you to turn one of and leave the other on and vice versa.

The ConnectSense app, which has just launched on Android, you can monitor what is plugged in and see how much power it is consuming. This is going to allow you to save some money on your electric bill every month, by keeping some stuff unplugged and seeing what is taking up all of the power. ConnectSense also allows for  automation, so you can set different characteristics for turning on the TV, or turning off the lights and such. ConnectSense' founder, Adam Justice stated that "we are committed to evolving our product offerings to create an easy-to-use, seamless way for people to better control and monitor their homes." This launch does also mark ConnectSense expansion to Android devices, all of its previous products were available on iOS only.

Background: ConnectSense has previously been available for iOS users, which is quite common with products these days. It's just simpler to develop for iOS, seeing as there are far fewer variables when it comes to developing and supporting all of the smartphones that run on iOS, versus Android. But it is now on Android, which is going to drastically increase its presence in the smart home and home automation space. On top of that ConnectSense has added Google Assistant support here, which is a big deal as well. With this new Smart Outlet, you're going to be able to control it with your voice, no matter what smartphone or what voice assistant platform you prefer to use. Many use Google Assistant, but having Amazon Alexa here is also a good look.

Impact: The new Smart Outlet from ConnectSense is available from Amazon beginning today. It is priced at $59.99, which does sound a bit steep for a smart outlet, but this does have two outlets as well as a 2.4A USB port for rapid charging, which is a big deal, and something that others on the market do not have at this time. This is a rather unique smart plug from ConnectSense, and one that is sure to be a big seller. You can grab the ConnectSense Smart Outlet from Amazon using the link down below.
